We may have a hard time finding a national identity other than great scenery and a maple leaf flag… we we can come up with our own set of problems, right? Or, maybe not.
I remember reading in an economics textbook that national identity only really generates following periods of great social or political upheaval. Maybe Canada’s enduring peace is the reason for its relative lack of identity?
That makes a lot of sense. Most of the national identity things I can think of for other countries are about war and getting people to support the wars.
