The Wonderful Camera Obscura

The Wonderful Camera Obscura.

The camera obscura – Latin for “dark room” – was a sort of giant camera that Victorians could enjoy along with the other delights of the seaside, for they were usually found on popular beaches or in parks – anywhere that tourists and passers-by could enjoy them.

Briefly, the camera obscura works on the optical principle that when a pinhole of light is admitted to a dark room, the rays of light order themselves into an upside-down image of what is outside. The camera obscuras of the Victoria era were fitted with a lens (to sharpen the image that was created by the thin ray of light) and with a mirror to cast the image onto a horizontal viewing surface.

Won Word Wednesday

driftwood

Won Word Wednesday, the mini meme. What It Is: What happened when I had no camera for Wordless Wednesday. So I had to use words to describe my Wednesday. But only won Word. (That is how my adopted family pronounces ‘one’.)

Another meme that I’m late/ early for. Noticed this one as I wandered along this morning. My coffee water boiled about 15 minutes ago. I have to stop just drifting along this morning and get stuff done. But first…. that coffee. I’ll be back. 🙂

Macro Photo Ladybug

Trying things with the new camera. This was one of my first attempts at using the macro feature. Cropped away quite a bit of the brick steps but it is in good focus. Far better than I could get with the old camera. Still working on the file size issue. Seemed to take over an hour to get my photos from the camera to the computer today.

Before adding this to the blog I ran it through Image Composer and saved it for the web. I think that helps with file size, not sure yet. Did help to make it smaller physically at least.
