Best Wishes Will and Kate!

I’m watching the Royal Wedding. Switching between CTV and CBC, both are talking about different things but CTV seems to be keeping it more in the present rather than rehashing everything and anything. It was nice to see Diana a bit in old news though. Poor Mom, wouldn’t she love to be here, meeting Kate and wishing them well.

Am I the only one having a bit of a cry? Two young people with so much ahead of them, so much extra pressure for them too. I hope all goes well with the wedding, I don’t see why it wouldn’t. I bet it is planned and checked to within an inch of it’s life. There is probably very little room for error, or surprises.

Local TV Channels Going PPV in Canada

I’ve signed the petitions for the local TV stations to get paid through the cable companies . I know this will mean another increase to my bill from Bell TV. I am even willing to pay another dollar or so per channel to keep watching A channel, CBC , CTV and etc.

Ideally, this would mean the local channels could stop running ads. If I’m paying for the service I’d like to stop having the ads (ideally). I know this will not happen and I’m not even writing to ask for that.

What I am asking for however, is for CTV , the A Channel and all the others to cease and desist with the practice of turning the sound up when commercials are running. Then turning the sound down again when the programming starts. This is something which has really ticked me off from the very beginning. I have completely stopped watching some channels, like YTV , over this.

As a consumer who will be soon paying for the local channels I do not think it is too much to ask for CTV, the A channel and the others to treat us (the paying customer) with a little courtesy and respect.

I will also send this to Patrick Brown , our local MPP here in Barrie. Maybe my request will just be ignored but I really do think this is little enough to ask for in return for paying for the service.

  1. It was sunny and hot outside but I was hiding out in the basement apartment where it is lovely and cool.

    2. I watched “Twice in a Lifetime” on TV this afternoon. It’s a really nice show where get to go back and try to fix their lives. A Canadian show which (as happens to anything nice from Canadian TV) did not survive a long time on air. I’m glad CTV put them on in reruns.

    3. I started my period today but I don’t have any cramps, boob pinching and not even a zit. Nice for a change.

I have updated BackWash , the journal/ column part and one of the newsletters. Not a great post for the newsletter, just another blab about Adsense which I have likely done too many times for it to be new and interesting. Two more newsletters to go there and I should do something for the communities. They say it’s all working again. I haven’t done much for BackWash in awhile.

I also want to get another post out for the LockerGnome blog . I have been keeping it almost daily, pretty good for a new blog. I don’t know what kind of traffic it will bring in. Maybe not much or maybe it will become a raging success. It’s entirely impossible. 😉

I also need to finish making a list of the damaged books for the insurance claim. Everyone seems to have different thoughts about that and how it will all work out. I don’t want all the books back and I doubt they are going to send someone of their staff out to purchase each and every book on my list. Likely it will be a cheque of some amount, based on the price of the books currently. I can easily spend money at the book store. Plus, there are some I do want to replace. I have another bag to take to the second hand bookstore but now I don’t have a local one. I will have to keep an eye out for something good around here. Maybe towards Scarborough since that would be an easier trip while carrying a bag of books. Or not. So much to find and figure out about living here.

I met someone new through Craigslist. We plan to meet for coffee/ tea on the weekend. I’m looking forward to it, only a little nervous. His name is Paul and he is in the area here too. It will be nice to meet someone, however it happens to turn out.

I’m making noodles with salsa tonight. More lazy than gourmet but they taste good.

The TV is on and working, I get two channels as it is: CBC and CTV .
