Live Press for LiveJournal with WordPress

I’ve had LiveJournal for a long time. I was happy to install a new plugin (I’ve become a plugin window shopper) today. Live Press says I can choose to publish any of my WordPress posts to LiveJournal at the same time. That is a good thing. I am always having trouble trying to post at LiveJournal. Yesterday it would not even let me type in the screen for adding a new entry. It was pretty odd. I’m hoping this will work around that and give me the chance to keep my LiveJournal account from getting too stale. I won’t be using it as a receptacle for everything I post here. Far from it! But it can have enough to look less ignored.

Hair Tan Lines and Other Useless Stuff

My hair has a tan line. Like an expiration or best before date where the dye stops and the old colour (my natural colour) begins. I love my natural colour, I’m not too fond of those insolent grey hairs that started coming in along with my natural colour.

People tend to say I look a lot younger than I am. I feel my age in some ways. But, really, what is your age? It’s just a number. A number of years. I don’t feel 80 yet and I don’t feel 20 still. So, somewhere in there, is where I am.

I’ve given up TV for now at least. It is all just a fuzzy mess if I forget and switch it on. I’ve gone without TV for a few years before. The only thing I missed were The Gilmore Girls but I caught up a lot in re-runs the past year or so. These day I like Being Erica. CBC runs it on the web, so I don’t have to miss anything. I just open up their site each week and watch it, commercial free even.

I was wondering if going back to dial up Internet would really be all that noticeably slow. My high speed isn’t fast. Firefox hangs frequently. But, then I remembered that it isn’t the websites and blogs we wait to load, it’s the frugging ads! If you wonder why it costs so much for Internet, now you know. The ads take more time to load than the text or image content on the page. In nearly every case. Web designs work to keep page load time quick and simple. Ad companies don’t give a flying squirrel how long you sit there and wait for everything to load. Bastards!

I want a web browser that I can censor out some of the worst offenders. Like the old pop up window blocker. Now we need one to block out ad domains like doubleclick.net/ com. That one fouled up my browser this morning. I had to restart the whole computer. I had just reformatted the whole PC last night so it began with a clean drive, no junk and no cookies and nothing else that could have caused a jam up.

That is about all I am going to blab right now. I still have to take out the garbage tonight. I’m still stalling cause it is cold. :(

Looking and Flying

Things are getting to a normal sort of keel again. The sinking of the ship is on the backburner and I’m feeling like I can cope again.

I met the new tenant today. He is still scruffy looking but seems at least an average sort of guy. The doorknob on the back door broke while he was moving in and he replaced it. I take that as a good sign. Shows respect for our home and taking responsibility. There should be a door on the joined area this coming weekend. He mentioned that too, saying it was nice to have some privacy rather than having to be friendly all the time. It is nice to be able to not be friendly when you choose to.
I did notice an odd thing. The window blinds on the back bay window are all missing their sticks that let you turn the venetian blinds open or closed. I know they were all there before, I know I opened and closed those blinds before Christmas several times. So where are they now? Weird, why would anyone remove all three of them?
The downstairs guy had Rogers installed. Made me feel concern for our nice new electrical panel. The electrician had nothing good to say about Rogers and their installations. I will be glad to be rid of them for myself at least. Hope the install they did today hasn’t mucked all the work up. They had all my services off for most of an hour during the install for downstairs. No notice or apologies and did not even let me know it was all back on before they left, they just left and said nothing at all to me. Not very good.
I am catching up on Doodle Week. Don’t know how to get more interest in that. It has been winding down for sure. I will figure out something now that I have most of my difficulties fixed up. Will be glad to have something pleasant and creative to put some focus into.
I drew the above picture while thinking about nothing in particular. After I thought it was interesting that I came up with that. If you think about it, you can take it two ways. One, to look where you are going, the basic plan. Two, it does hurt to crash into something you could have seen ahead. It made sense to me at the time, when I first had the thought. I think something is lost in translation now. :)

Manic Monday: Doodle Kitties!

Blasting off in space. Cat in the window too, for Mo. A day late but I didn’t get back till late last night. My niece, Roxanne, was the colourist for most of the work. I started with the fire at the end of the rocket and then she wanted to take over. She’s 5. Everyone tells her she’s an artist and now she says so herself.
