No one can stand reading about just sex all the time. More importantly for me, I can’t just write about sex, BDSM and fetishes all the time. It gets dull and monotonous. Sex bloggers need to be more than sex bloggers, they need to write about sex in an off centre way.
Sex bloggers need to write about other things, have off shoot interests to keep things interesting and give them space to write about other interests and passions. You can usually find a way to connect just about anything to sex, but that isn’t enough.
One reason so many sex blogs fizzle and die is the lack of interest in maintaining a site which is so one dimensional and one sided. So, don’t be afraid to bring in other things you love and care about. Make yourself more interesting, more readable and more human too.
Bring your own personality into your sex blog. If you love sparkly things, like holiday jewelry, post about something great you found. I used to and then I pinned myself into a bit of a corner here, got tired of it and stopped posting for awhile. That’s what happens when you write for your readers and stop bringing yourself into it.
You need to write what you love, or at least get excited about in one way or another.

I started the idea of Green Living History as a Blogger blog, long ago. I didn’t start it there. Just wrote a description. I really liked the name so I bought the domain. Now, here the poor thing is, neglected.
Rather than importing the lack of content on Blogger, or keeping the blogger site open for no real reason, I am deleting it there and just adding the single little post back in here.
The Idea Behind Green Living History
Green Living History – An idea to blog about the environment, green living, repurposing, natural religion and history.

My sister-in-law, Miss Karol, sent me the link to write for SheKnows. I think they are looking for the domestic Goddess, Mother blogger types. But, I sent in a note anyway. I’m working on the ‘what can it hurt’ theory.
This is what I sent (image not included):
Tonight I’m listening to Godzilla roar and knock over most of Tokyo (via Roku) while I change WordPress themes. I’m craving a really good, juicy steak or possibly a rich, gooey chocolate cake. I’m almost 50 (December) and I’m trying to lose weight. It’s not easy. But, divorce wasn’t easy. Not having children when I thought I’d have at least 5 of them at one point, was not easy. Looking forward to menopause is not easy – but sometimes I do look forward to it.
I’d like to write for SheKnows because I like to try new things. Also, I’d like to see more women my age, my weight and spinster-like, have a voice. I know I’m not the only woman my age online. Yet most of the blogs and sites I read seem to be written by women who are forever 20-something with high heels and small, adorable children.
That’s 148 words so I will skip right to the links and writing background.
These are my own sites – in various stages of revamping and repair:
There are more but these four are in better shape. Especially as I have just been ripping up my themes and sidebar clutter tonight.
I have written for other networks, most of which are gone now. I currently write for Squidoo and HubPages (off and on). You can find links to these accounts and my social media in the top navigation bar on my sites. Also, on Word Grrls the About page has details about sites I have written for in my earlier days online (1996 to now).
My name is Laura Brown and I Am Canadian! (I love that video on YouTube). My email is firstname.lastname@example.org or Twitter me @thatgrrl. My phone is not mobile – 705 797 0387 but it is very obedient.
Thanks for reading!
I really was watching Godzilla tonight too. It gave me the idea for a post which I wrote on Word Grrls.
This blog continued on… Divorce Darling.
October, 6, 2017 – Update – Decided to close Divorce Darling and move the content here. I don’t know if this will be an active site. I’m not that interested in writing the topic as it ends up being about others more than writing for myself.
Unfortunately, I can’t find anything to migrate posts and images (content) from WordPress into Blogger. There is a site which everyone passes around but it does not seem to work. Instead it opens spam links when you try to use it. If you click a second time to upload your file, it then spits out a “converted” file. But, this converted file is going nowhere when I try to import it into Blogger. So, after hours of giving it a chance to work, I am ruling it a spam trap.
In the end, you can only import your CMS into the same CMS again. Conversions seldom work between CMS’s. b2evolution I did have some success with but I just let my domain go so there isn’t a domain to host it on now. The adult site never made a cent to support keeping the domain for it.
This was originally posted to HubPages. However, they unpublished it (and several other posts) because it was too adult. I have relocated the post here and you can bet I’m not really happy with HubPages today.
I Write Adult Non-Fiction and Erotica
I’ve written erotica and non-fiction adult content too. It’s not as dramatic as people want to think. The worst reaction I had was from my Mother and a sister when they found out. But, once I showed them what I was writing they mellowed out about it.
I’ve written erotica and sold it too. I also write non-fiction for adult sites. It’s an interesting market. I get ideas and experience which work well for me when I’m writing in other markets, venues and genres too.
There is a big difference in writing erotica versus plain, pure pornography. One of the differences is that porn sells a lot easier then gets passed around online without any credit to the original author. Erotica writing is better in the long run, even for making money, because anyone who wants to hire you based on what you have written, can actually find you.
Adult Content Warning for your Blog
You can easily add an adult content warning to your WordPress blog. It’s even a free plugin.
How to Know What’s Erotic and What’s Not
You can read about the distinction between erotica and pornography on any site which accepts erotica from writers. Most have drawn a line where they feel one becomes the other.
Basically, erotica has a story, there may be romance but either way it’s sensual and takes time to tell a story. There is more to the writing than intercourse. Erotica isn’t hard core. Erotica isn’t about making love necessarily, but it’s more than just a quickie. When you write erotica there’s foreplay and a story to go along with the quickie.
Adult Writing Prompts
I like Writing for Adult Blogs
I began writing on the adult side ten years ago when I wrote for Adult BackWash. That site is now gone. But, for me, it all started when BackWash needed more writers for the adult side of the site. It was the side of the site where the writers got to write anything, within reason (but there were very few limits imposed). Plus, it was red. I love the colour red. So I wrote a regular adult column which I called Bait and Switch. It was fun. Most of the time.
There were times when I really didn’t feel like reviewing adult sites to add to the links. Or there were times I didn’t have anything new to say. But, that happens no matter what genre you write.
The difference with adult content is that you have the frigid versus hooker issue. People expect women writing adult content are pretty free and wild and having sex at least once every day/ night. (Men feel this way more than women readers, but most of your readers are men). If you aren’t busy with boyfriends, toys, and more, you can feel you have nothing to write about. But, you’re wrong. You can be a nice, good girl type and still write about romance, dating, intimacy and issues with all three of them.
Any woman can write erotica. It’s about your attitude more than your experience, or lack of it.
Resources for Adult Content and Erotica Writers
This blog has moved to a domain of it’s own. I got tired of Blogger telling me I can’t login to my own account. Still ironing out some bugs (possibly in a literal way) but the posts are up and I won’t be coming back here to update this one again.
I have turned off word verification sevearl times but no matter how many times I save the setting as ‘off’ it comes right back on again when I go back to check. I may move this blog over to WordPress.com today. I really do HATE word verification and don’t expect anyone else to use it when I don’t want to be stuck with it either.
In case you didn’t know, women are the source of corruption and chaos and must be covered up at all times and not seen and not heard.

The photo says everything really. Quite smart.
About Operation Nice – Don’t you love it when people go out of their way to be nice? Like when someone waits to hold the door for you. Or when a stranger waves you into a line a traffic. Or even when a coworker shoots you a friendly smile along with a “have a nice day.” If everyone was a little bit nicer to the folks they encountered each day, perhaps the world would be a more pleasant place. Operation NICE was initiated to remind you that a little NICE goes a long way.
The Kind Hearted Blogger Campaign
AS A KIND-HEARTED BLOGGER I PLEDGE TO:
- create, inspire, and admire rather than compete with fellow bloggers
- be understanding of each other– in the blogging community, as well as in the world
- stay away from internet/blogging bullying
- speak my opinion freely, while still being mindful of other’s feelings– be tactful.
- make an effort–no matter how big or small the gesture, to spread kindness or joy to others
- acknowledge that I will make mistakes, (I am only human) but remember to learn from them
- know that at times I will post about the negative stuff in life, and maybe even some complaining (I am only human) but I will always follow up with something happy/positive too.
- believe that this world is a good place, filled with good people.
