I Broke My Favourite Glass Mug

I pulled it out of the dishwasher, still hot. Did not think but went ahead and poured in a little coffee cream, cold from the fridge. I heard that little ping and, sure enough, my glass mug had a huge crack, splitting the bottom and up each side. I am annoyed with myself. I should have had my brain on but I was working on autopilot.

I found more of them. But, they are not available for online shopping. I did find some on eBay, but the shipping is expensive,  beyond considering. So, I will just wait until I am somewhere there is an Ikea store. Funny, Ikea is so popular but this will be the first time I have ever had a plan to shop there. But, the mugs (called beer tankards) are in stock.

Most of the fantasy art uses women. It’s great to sometimes find something created with a man, who really looks good too. Strong, yet human in some way too.

You can buy this as a print at Deviant Art. I didn’t know they had added the option to have this on mousepads, mugs and such too. The shipping is a bit pricey for outside the US though. Still, this is better than the stuff I see on other sites like Zazzle and CafePress.

Moustache Growing Month: Movember

emergmoustacheDo you know about Movember?

Movember is about men’s health, specifically prostate cancer. The idea of Movember is for men to grow a moustache in November and/or contribute to the cause of their own health. Growing a moustache is changing the face of men’s health, in a literal way.

Growing a moustache (also spelt mustache) myself doesn’t appeal to me. But, I’d wear a fake moustache for Movember. There are plenty of them to choose from once you get looking around online. You could choose them by facial hair style or hair colour. Of course, with a fake one you get to decide if you like felt, plastic, paper or something else too. You don’t even have to wear it on your face. I found necklaces, hair clips and mugs and glasses which make it look like you have a moustache when you drink from them.

Would you Keep a Moustache After Movember?

Would you grow a moustache just for the sake of having a moustache?

My Uncle has had a full beard and moustache for as long as I can remember. He has always maintained it well. But it’s fuzzy. I’ve seen him itching it at times. Often he gests something in it when we have dinner. I know he keeps his beard clean and combs it out too, but it must still be a weird feeling to have all that hair on your face. It gets in his mouth when he doesn’t keep it trimmed close.

There are certainly downfalls to having a hairy upper lip.

But, there are men who look really good with a moustache.

I Want Paper Coffee Cups

I have one of those tiny flies buzzing around me tonight. It’s too fast for me to kill. I must need more coffee if I am this slow.

Today you could have gotten a free coffee at Starbucks if you brought in a travel mug. I have a travel mug but it makes the coffee taste like plastic and it doesn’t fit in my purse. So it is really not very practical at all. I wonder if they would have served my coffee in the regular paper cup if I showed them the plastic travel mug first. Likely not as the whole point was to encourage people to bring their own cups versus continuing to use paper cups.
However, how green is it to bring your own mug really?
First, people don’t always wash their travel mugs in between coffee stops. The barista at the coffee shop usually rinses out the travel mug with a squirt of hot water. But, is that really enough to make it safe from bacteria and whatever else could be lurking in there? While being sick may turn you a shade of green it is not a good thing for the environment, in many ways.
A paper cup is easily recycled. At worst it will decompose in your compost if it doesn’t make it into the recycling bin with the other paper. A plastic cup can not be recycled, it will not compost and it will not go out with your recycling but will have to be put out with the unredeemable garbage.
If I have to haul a travel mug around with me I will need a bigger purse. Likely I need a bigger purse already as I am also expected to carry my own grocery/ shopping bags too. I don’t have a car to be my second purse or my socially and environmentally conscious beast of burden. I have to carry whatever I need with me on my shoulder all day, while running around from place to place and bus to bus. It may be good for the environment but it is not good for me. I don’t like hauling around cargo.
