I canceled my profile on FetLife last year so I can’t give either of these plugins a try. But, I was interested in them and decided to post about them knowing others do still use FetLife.
WP FetLife Importer
This plugin will import your pictures and writings from FetLife into your WordPress site as posts. Nice if you have been writing on the site and want to keep track of it, or keep a back up copy too. I did see some people had a lot of content posted. Crossposting is a great idea for original content posted to a secondary site (not your own domain). You can leave all the posts saved as drafts and not publish them if you don’t want duplicate posts.
Show your activity on the FetLife site, like having a social feed with events you may attend, groups you joined or posted questions, replies or information in general.
One of the problems I noticed with posting anything linking to FetLife was anyone clicking the link had to be a member of the site (and logged in) in order to see the link on the FetLife site. So, I stopped posting links to groups there. Seemed a wasted effort as people who were logged in didn’t need me to promote groups to them. But, people who might like the information might find it frustrating to have it out of their reach.

Read more about me and my other blogs.
My sister-in-law, Miss Karol, sent me the link to write for SheKnows. I think they are looking for the domestic Goddess, Mother blogger types. But, I sent in a note anyway. I’m working on the ‘what can it hurt’ theory.
This is what I sent (image not included):
Tonight I’m listening to Godzilla roar and knock over most of Tokyo (via Roku) while I change WordPress themes. I’m craving a really good, juicy steak or possibly a rich, gooey chocolate cake. I’m almost 50 (December) and I’m trying to lose weight. It’s not easy. But, divorce wasn’t easy. Not having children when I thought I’d have at least 5 of them at one point, was not easy. Looking forward to menopause is not easy – but sometimes I do look forward to it.
I’d like to write for SheKnows because I like to try new things. Also, I’d like to see more women my age, my weight and spinster-like, have a voice. I know I’m not the only woman my age online. Yet most of the blogs and sites I read seem to be written by women who are forever 20-something with high heels and small, adorable children.
That’s 148 words so I will skip right to the links and writing background.
These are my own sites – in various stages of revamping and repair:
There are more but these four are in better shape. Especially as I have just been ripping up my themes and sidebar clutter tonight.
I have written for other networks, most of which are gone now. I currently write for Squidoo and HubPages (off and on). You can find links to these accounts and my social media in the top navigation bar on my sites. Also, on Word Grrls the About page has details about sites I have written for in my earlier days online (1996 to now).
My name is Laura Brown and I Am Canadian! (I love that video on YouTube). My email is firstname.lastname@example.org or Twitter me @thatgrrl. My phone is not mobile – 705 797 0387 but it is very obedient.
Thanks for reading!
I really was watching Godzilla tonight too. It gave me the idea for a post which I wrote on Word Grrls.
This blog continued on… Divorce Darling.
October, 6, 2017 – Update – Decided to close Divorce Darling and move the content here. I don’t know if this will be an active site. I’m not that interested in writing the topic as it ends up being about others more than writing for myself.
Unfortunately, I can’t find anything to migrate posts and images (content) from WordPress into Blogger. There is a site which everyone passes around but it does not seem to work. Instead it opens spam links when you try to use it. If you click a second time to upload your file, it then spits out a “converted” file. But, this converted file is going nowhere when I try to import it into Blogger. So, after hours of giving it a chance to work, I am ruling it a spam trap.
In the end, you can only import your CMS into the same CMS again. Conversions seldom work between CMS’s. b2evolution I did have some success with but I just let my domain go so there isn’t a domain to host it on now. The adult site never made a cent to support keeping the domain for it.
I have turned off word verification sevearl times but no matter how many times I save the setting as ‘off’ it comes right back on again when I go back to check. I may move this blog over to WordPress.com today. I really do HATE word verification and don’t expect anyone else to use it when I don’t want to be stuck with it either.
I seem to have a need to begin new projects. I don’t always have the energy or social personality to take them as far as I would like to see them go. What I do have is endless ideas and some of them really are good. Even if it is just me saying so.
I’d like to start a directory for BBW, large sized women with blogs. Why? Well, because I like to read them myself and it would be nice to give each of them a place to connect, find each other and inspire each other. I already have a great WordPress plugin to run the directory from. It does need a bit of a tweak but nothing difficult. So I am going to begin adding the blogs I already know about from my own looking around and my digging for BBW sites at Scoop.it. If you find this directory, you are welcome to join. You can submit your blog through the WordPress plugin and I will review it (to make sure it’s not someone spamming their way in) and then add it.
I decided not to do this. But, if someone wanders into this post and is interested in taking up the idea I would work with someone else to do it.
Trying out the new asides feature in the latest WordPress. I use a plugin for asides, so far. If this works about the same I will be able to eliminate a plugin from my list.
Turns out the new aside thing needs extra coding added. I’d rather not deal with that. Not that I haven’t before… I just don’t want to in this case. It is easy to keep using the plugin that already works without adding coding.
I’m pulling things together with Headway, the WordPress theme. I have found where a lot of things are. One interesting thing is the stronger line between Headway and WordPress. I find Thesis blurs the boundary more, so that I could edit the blog almost using Thesis rather than WordPress. Maybe Thesis will become a stand alone blog platform someday. It would probably be a good one.
At one point I made a list of things to get done on the blog, Word Grrls. I will post it to Word Grrls over the weekend if I am here (not babysitting). Some of it was stuff I changed through WordPress. Some of it I am still working on. But, quite a bit I have worked out one way or another through Headway itself. I am starting to like it.
Today I have had about four hours of sleep, my face is really itchy for some reason and we are going out to run errands most of the day. I could just put the TV on and nap in front of it.
Life is a learning experience. I am working on the WordGrrls blog, changing to a new theme. It was great to have a new premium theme from Matt at WordPress.
I have nothing bad to say about Thesis, the WP theme. I still like it and may yet return to using it. One thing, it is quite simple to use and uncomplicated once you get the hang of where to find everything.
Now I am using Headway and finding it has too many options for fiddling with little things, overkill. I am still trying to work out the footer and I need to make the body of content fluid but have not found an option for that. Two fairly essential things. There isn’t a lot of documentation (other than videos which I just don’t want to deal with). But I have found some help from Headway Beginner.
Found these two sites today while looking for a widget to use on WordPress, oddly enough.
